Bush Clematis

Clematis 'Rain Dance ' is a bush clematis with flowers as large as what you'd see on a vine clematis. It produces large (7 cm), outward facing indigo blue flowers with darker midribs and lighter margins. Although this is a non-vining Clematis, the plant will benefit from support, either from staking, a garden obelisk, or from neighbouring plants.

Growing and Maintenance Tips

'Rain Dance' blooms first on new growth beginning in midsummer, and then again on new shoots in early fall. The second round will likely produce smaller flowers than the first and flowers that were double the first time may be single the second time. In early spring as they strat to bud start at ground level and work up until you reach the first pair of good, strong buds. Prune just above that. Repeat for the rest of the plant.  This pruning is necessary to avoid getting a bare stem with a thick tangle above it.
