Weigela' Wine and Roses' is a dense, rounded shrub that is notable for its beautiful dark burgundy purple foliage and the profusion of reddish pink funnel-shaped flowers that are produced in the spring. It does produce some flowers throughout the summer on new growth. It is a versatile shrub that can be used in mixed borders, as a hedge, in foundation plantings and in mass plantings. The flowering branches are lovely for cutting.
