Spirea

'Double Play Dolly' introduces a totally different flower look to the Double Play family. It features flowers with unique shades of purple. Most Spirea have red or pink flowers so having pink flowers toning to purple shades is really a breakthrough. It is a compact flowering shrub like the others in the series. In the spring as the foliage emerges, it starts off shades of orangeish red before changing to bright yellow. So not only does this shrub have great flowers, the foliage is just as amazing.

Growing and Maintenance Tips

Spirea is a popular plant because it is very low maintenance.  It naturally takes on a nice, rounded habit without pruning. If you wish, you can give it a trim after the flowers fade, which will encourage even more colorful new growth and heavy repeat flowering. Double Play® spiraea are typically ignored by deer and even rabbits, and are quite drought tolerant after a year or two in the ground.
