'Royal Star' Magnolia is a compact deciduous flowering tree prized for its spectacular early spring display of fragrant, star-shaped white blossoms that appear before the foliage. The blooms feature numerous narrow petals that give each flower a full, feathery appearance. Dark green summer foliage provides an attractive backdrop through the growing season before turning yellow-bronze in fall. Its moderate size and elegant form make it an excellent specimen for small gardens and foundation plantings.

Growing and Maintenance Tips
Royal Star Magnolia grows best in moist, well-drained soil rich in organic matter. It performs well in full sun to partial shade and benefits from a sheltered site to protect early blooms from harsh winds. Minimal pruning is needed aside from removing damaged branches after flowering. This cultivar is valued for its reliable cold hardiness and improved tolerance to late spring frosts.
Bloomfest Garden Art Show and Sale July 18-27, 2025
Our annual Bloomfest Garden Art Show and Sale begins on July 18th.
We’re proud to showcase the work of 22 talented artists, displayed throughout our gardens. During the show, we are open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The gardens will be in full bloom, and the daylily field promises to be spectacular. Our benches will be filled with beautiful plants—many grown especially for this event.
If you are parking on the road, please park on the same side as the nursery to ensure safety and smooth traffic flow.
Our plant selection changes constantly throughout the season. If you’re looking for something specific, we recommend calling or emailing in advance. We also offer a design service to help you choose the best plants for your outdoor space.
