Standard Panicle Hydrangea

Noted for its spectacular flower heads, Hydrangea paniculata 'Phantom' features immense, dense creamy white conical flowers, up to 37 cm (15 in), atop strong, stiff stems that do not flop.  As the flowers age, they begin to develop a pink tinge turning to green. Easy care and long-lived, the standard form of 'Phantom' can take the place of a small tree in the landscape.

Growing and Maintenance Tips

Hydrangea 'Phantom' is an easy, low maintenance plant. Provide average well drained soil and plenty of moisture in full sun to partial shade. Prune 'Phantom'  in early spring because it blooms on new wood. The spent flowers can be pruned off after blooming or left until the spring for winter interest. They also dry well for use in bouquets. Any suckers that develop on the trunk of the tree or around the base should be cut off.
