Tartarian Dogwood

'Sgt. Pepper' Dogwood provides season-long, ever-changing interest starting with spring when the new foliage emerges with green and white variegation tinged with pink. White flower clusters appear in late spring when the pink colour starts to fade leaving the crisp white and green foliage for the summer season. The white margins on the leaves turn bright pink again in late summer to fall, along with the stems that take on a deep red colour that will last all winter.

Growing and Maintenance Tips

Cornus prefers moist, evenly wet soil but can tolerate some dry conditions once established.  It can be grown in full sun to part shade. Use it in mass plantings,  as a hedge, in a foundation planting or grow it  for cutting.  Trimming is not required but for the best red stem colouring, it is recommended to prune back a third of the branches to the ground in late winter or early spring. The trimmings are beautiful in flower arrangments or winter urns.
