Ironweed

The blooms are held atop sturdy, upright stems above narrow, lance-shaped green foliage, creating strong vertical interest in the garden. Its reduced height compared to the species makes it more suitable for perennial borders while still providing the bold colour and structure ironweed is known for.

Growing and Maintenance Tips

Ironweed thrives in full sun and prefers moist, fertile soil but is adaptable to average garden conditions once established. It is a tough, low-maintenance perennial that tolerates heat and humidity well. Cutting back stems in early summer can help maintain a more compact habit. This native plant is excellent for naturalized areas, prairie plantings, and pollinator gardens.
