Thalictrum 'Black Stockings' is a striking, herbaceous perennial with generous sprays of fluffy, bright lavender-purple flowers borne on tall upright stems. The blooms are carried above attractive lacy foliage that looks like a columbine. The foliage remains attractive throughout the season. Blooming from mid to late summer it is the perfect choice for attracting pollinators to your garden. It is listed as a zone 5 plant but has been hardy in our area.

Growing and Maintenance Tips

Partial shade and rich soil give best results. Thalictrum will take more sun if the soil remains evenly moist—mulch well to conserve moisture. Although Thalictrums prefer a moist soil, they will also perform well in an ordinary garden bed well enriched with organic matter.
