Rose Mallow

'Edge of Night' is a highly anticipated addition to the SUMMERIFIC® lineup.  At only 91-106 cms tall, this ithe most compact Hibiscus to date in this series.  The huge bubblegum pink flowers have overlapping petals and darker pink veining for a dramatic 3D effect. Jet black foliage is the darkest to date on a Hibiscus and contrasts nicely with the green flower calyxes and red veining and petioles. Best colour and performance will be in full sun. These North American native plants bring massive, tropical-looking flowers all the way to zone 4. Although later to emerge than most perennials, these are fast growing plants capable of adding an inch of new growth a day. They are excellent at brightening up end of season gardens.

Growing and Maintenance Tips

Hibiscus are sun lovers and like moist well drained soil. Keep them well watered in the summer. They are one of the last perennials to start to grow, but when they do, they grow very quickly and need lots of moisture to support that growth. Dead heading is necessary to keep the plant looking good. In the fall do not cut back until after hard frost and leave at least 30 cms of stem. Watch for Japanese Beetles because they like this plant. A winter mulch, especially in the first year is also advisable.
