Helleborus ‘Rome in Red’ features rich, single flowers in deep burgundy to wine-red tones, often with a slightly darker center. The blooms are outward- to slightly nodding, providing excellent early spring colour in shaded gardens. Its evergreen, leathery foliage forms a durable clump that offers year-round structure and contrast, especially effective when paired with lighter hellebore selections.

Growing and Maintenance Tips

Hellebores have a reputation for being tricky, but they’re actually quite easy to grow.  Give them rich, moist, organic soil and protection from hot afternoon sun in the summer, and they’ll thrive. They’re even able to tolerate short periods of drought once established. Because hellebores are evergreen, it’s a good idea to trim back any winter-damaged foliage in early spring once new growth begins.
