Joe Pye Weed

'Gateway' is a selected form of Joe Pye Weed flowering late July to September.  The robust plants have reddish tones to the stems and huge flower clusters that are deep pink.  It is an excellent background plant in a border and  monarch butterfly magnet. Pair it with Ornamental grasses and other late blooming perennials like Rudbeckia Herbstsonne.

Growing and Maintenance Tips

Eupatorium is easy to grow in full sun to part shade in rich, well drained soil.  It can be cut down in the fall or left to provide winter interest with its big dried flower heads.  All parts of Eupatorium are poisonous if eaten.
