About This Grass
Ease of maintenance and reliable bloom makes 'Little Zebra' one of the most popular ornamental grasses on the market. Though it looks like 'Zebrinus' with its distinctive gold banding, this variety is shorter, more upright, and keeps its color all season. 'Little Zebra' flowers reliably every year in late summer, even when the weather is unusually cool. The lovely reddish purple plumes are held about 30 cms above the foliage, changing to a creamy tan colour in winter. Miscanthus is versatile from a design standpoint; it can be used as a specimen, for massing or screening, in large containers, or at the pond's edge. Plant this grass where its wonderful winter interest can be enjoyed.

Growing and Maintenance Tips
Miscanthus ‘Little Zebra’ performs best in full sun, where it develops strong stems, bold banding, and reliable flowering. Plant in average to well-drained soil and avoid wet sites, particularly in winter. Water regularly during the first season to establish roots, then reduce watering—once established, it is moderately drought tolerant, with occasional moisture improving summer appearance. Skip heavy fertilizing, as rich soil can cause floppy growth; average garden soil is ideal. Leave foliage standing over winter for structure, then cut back to 10–15 cm (4–6 in) in early spring before new growth appears. Hardy to Zone 4, this compact grass is low maintenance and well suited to sunny borders and mass plantings.
