Summer Phlox

‘Early Start Red’ features long-blooming, bright red fragrant flowers that form dense clusters on a compact upright plant. This phlox blooms earlier than other paniculata types attracting beneficial pollinators sooner and giving them an incentive to linger. Phlox add a punch of colour and heady fragrance to your summer border. When many perennials are slowing down Summer Phlox , known as the backbone of the perennial border, provide a range of welcome colours.

Growing and Maintenance Tips

Phlox needs rich, well drained soil that does not dry out to look its best. It is a heavy feeder so a fall mulch with compost is beneficial to keep up the organic level in the soil. The varieties we sell have mildew resistant but do not overcrowd this plant. It needs good air circulation.
