Growing and Maintenance Tips

Snowmound spirea requires little care to successfully grow since it will withstand poor soil, drought and urban conditions with minimal damage. However, its appearance is improved with routine upkeep such as watering, light pruning and yearly feeding, as well as heavy shearing every three to four years to rejuvenate the flowering branches and promote a healthier, fuller appearance. To extend the flowering and improve the overall appearance of the plant, you should remove faded flower clusters as soon as practicle (light shearing is an option). Keep in mind that Spiraea flower on new wood, so you should prune in late winter or early spring if needed.
