Loebner Magnolia

Magnolia ‘Leonard Messel’ is a graceful, small flowering tree celebrated for its profuse early-spring blooms. Slender buds open to star-shaped flowers with soft pink petals flushed deeper rose on the outside and pale pink to white interiors. The lightly fragrant blossoms appear before or just as the foliage emerges, covering the branches in a luminous display. With its refined branching and airy form, this magnolia makes a stunning specimen for lawns, courtyards, and mixed borders.

Growing and Maintenance Tips

Grow in full sun to part shade in moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soil enriched with organic matter. Protect from strong winds to preserve early blossoms. Magnolia × loebneri prefers consistent moisture but does not tolerate waterlogged soil. Mulch to maintain cool root conditions and avoid disturbing roots once established. Pruning is rarely required; if needed, prune lightly immediately after flowering.
