Ilex Berry Heavy® Gold is a Proven Winners® ColorChoice® Flowering Shrubs. It is a native deciduous shrub offering year-round interest, grown for its foliage and big, bright golden berries. The bush blooms in spring; however, the greenish-white flowers are fairly inconspicuous. If pollinated, flowers give way to the berries, which come in abundance and persist throughout winter, extending the season of interest. The berried branches also make excellent cuts for floral displays and provide winter food for birds.

Growing and Maintenance Tips
Winterberries naturally grow in, and therefore prefer, wet acidic soil, but they can handle the well-drained soil found in most gardens. They grow well in either full sun or partial shade. Pruning should be done immediately after blooming. Plant one 'Mr Poppins' holly for up to 5 Berry Heavy Gold hollies. The plants can be up to 15 meters apart.
