'Ruby Carousel' has deep purplish red foliage throughout the season on upright arching stems. In spring it has a big display of golden-yellow blooms, and when the leaves drop it is decorated with clusters of bright red berries. The foliage colour is best when planted in full sun. It is an excellent choice as a specimen in the border, hedge or as a barrier plant. It responds to pruning and shaping well.

Growing and Maintenance Tips
To retain the best red colouring 'Ruby Carousel' is best placed in full sun.. It grows well in any well-drained soil, including shallow rocky soils, sandy soils, and even harsh urban sites too. Water regularly during the first season to allow it to establish well, but after that it is very drought resistant. There are no significant pests or diseases on Barberry. Deer and rabbits leave it alone. You can trim it anytime between late winter and fall. It is best to trim before the new growth appears, and again in early summer for extra neatness.
