Alpine Betony

Stachys 'Hummmelo' is a little known perennial which should be more widely used. The low mound of crinkly dark green leaves is topped with bright pinky purple blooms in June. Deadheading will encourage rebloom. It is an excellent plant for the front of the border because it always looks attractive and combines easily with many other colours.

Growing and Maintenance Tips

Grow Stachys in full sun to part shade in well drained soil. Divide it in the spring when the plant becomes woody or the center dies out. Cut down spent flowers to maintain an attractive apperance.
