Lupin

'Gallery Red' f eatures tall spires of red flowers in late spring through early summer. The ‘Gallery Series’ hybrids were developed from the species Lupinus polyphyllus, a North American native hailing from the Pacific Northwest. As these are biennial or short-lived perennials, allow some plants to set seed for future generations, or trim back hard after flowering is over.

Growing and Maintenance Tips

Grow Lupines in full sun or light shade. They require rich organic soil with slight acidity and good drainage. They thrive in cool climates, and find it difficult to survive when we have  extremely hot dry summers. Applying mulch around the root zone will help to keep the roots cool and will protect them over the winter. Deadheading spent flowers will prolong the bloom time, but since they are short lived perennials it is wise to let some seeds set and scatter them to keep the planting going.
