Gentian

The search for the elusive true blue perennial is over! 'Gentiana True Blue' produces beautiful gentian blue flowers. These large tubular, true blue flowers open at the nodes all up and down the stems from midsummer into early fall. The smooth, mid-green, lance-shaped leaves form a nice sized clump that is perfectly proportioned for the middle of the flower border.

Growing and Maintenance Tips

Gentians tend to grow best in cooler zones with mild summers. 'True Blue' can grow in the garden right along with your other perennials since it is not an alpine type. It prefers full sun to part shade and should be protected from the afternoon sun in regions with hot, humid summers. Plant it in well-drained, sandy loam with average moisture. If the soil stays wet, especially in winter, the plant may rot.
