Gas Plant

Dictamnus, more commonly known as Gas Plant is one of the most treasured perennials for the sunny garden. It is very long lived once established but slow to take hold. Albus 'Albiflorus' has very tall stems carrying white, six petalled flowers with long stamens. It flowers with the peonies making an excellent combination. The foliage is glossy green, aromatic and looks good all season. Our plants are three years old now and will make beautiful specimens in the garden in two more years.

Growing and Maintenance Tips

Dictamnus is an easy care low maintenance perennial once established, but it takes patience to get it going. Plant it in rich, moist soil in a spot where it can be left undisturbed. It resents being moved except when it is very young. The sap can irritate your skin so wear gloves when working with this plant. The star shaped seed heads are very attractive and should be left on the plant to mature in the hope of self seeding.
