From Terra Vova Nurseries comes the the first gold foliage Dicentra spectabilis with true red flowers. It was developed from purposeful breeding. All other gold foliage varieties to date have been mutations. The stems are strong and upright, the flowers are large and numerous and the colour is brilliant red with a touch of unusual orange! It has a a great container habit and is long lasting in the garden; a great improvement over the still popular 'Gold Heart'. Exceptional vigour.

Growing and Maintenance Tips

Dicentra spectabilis is most at home in woodland settings. It likes rich, loose soil that is evenly moist but also well-drained. At planting time, add lots of compost to the soil to enhance its water retention capabilities. This is not a good choice for heavy clay soils. The foliage of Dicentra is very brittle so it should be planted in locations that are protected from high winds. It may be propagated by division in either spring or fall, taking great care to keep the fleshy roots intact when transplanting.
