AStilbe 'Radius' forms a large, impressive looking clump. This outstanding new hybrid fis similar to A. chinensis types but with more refined (not coarse) green foliage.  The new foliage has a pretty reddish copper cast in the springtime. Leafy, burgundy red scapes carry triangular plumes of burgundy red buds which open to bright red flowers in early to midsummer.

Growing and Maintenance Tips

To grow Astilbes well pay attention to their need for water. Do not let the soil dry out because the leaves will go crispy and drop off. Rich soil in partial shade is the best situation. In sun it will be hard to keep them moist enough and, in too much shade, they will not bloom well. Leave old foliage on until the spring to protect the crowns of the plants.
