Chinese Astilbe

'Little Vision in Purple’ differs from ‘Visions’ by its more compact plant habit, more finely dissected leaves, and darker coloured flowers. The flowers form a dense block of fuzzy, pyramidal shaped, lavender plumes, presented just above the coarsely textured, dark green foliage in midsummer. Like all Astilbe chinensis types, this one exhibits greater tolerance to drier soils and can tolerate full sun.

Growing and Maintenance Tips

To grow Astilbes well pay attention to their need for water. Do not let the soil dry out because the leaves will go crispy and drop off. Rich soil in partial shade is the best situation. In sun it will be hard to keep them moist enough and, in too much shade, they will not bloom well. Leave old foliage on until the spring to protect the crowns of the plants.
