Anemone sylvestris is a lovely spring bloomer with fragrant, dainty white flowers. The flowers are slightly down facing. The flowers give way to an ornamental seed head. The only issue with this plant is that it can overrun less aggressive plants so give it a bit of space to carpet an area or remove the extra plantlets every spring. It is an excellent groundcover to combine with small spring flowering bulbs.
Locate Anemone sylvestris in average well drained soil in partial shade. If it is happy it will spread to make a nice colony. In order to keep the foliage looking nice throughout the summer it should not be allowed to dry out. It can be divided in late summer. Extra plantlets can be removed in the spring to control the size of the colony.
