The Sonic Bloom series of Weigela are blooming powerhouses. 'Sonic Bloom Red' Weigela is a compact and dense shrub with dark green foliage. Loads of lipstick red flowers appear in May followed by several more waves of bloom until frost. No deadheading is necessary. Use this shrub in mixed plantings, wildflower gardens or foundation plantings.

Growing and Maintenance Tips

Weigela 'Sonic Bloom Red' is an easy care shrub that is adaptable to a range of soil conditions. It grows best in well drained soil in full sun, but will tolerate very light shade. In too much shade it will be leggy and will not bloom well. It is also tolerant of clay soil. It should be pruned after flowering to shape the plant. It is a fast growing, low maintenance shrub.
