Hens and Chicks

Mint Chocolate Chip forms a large rosette that is green with burgundy tips and as the weather cools, it transitions to deep burgundy with green tips.  Chick CharmsMint Chocolate Chip is a great addition for rock gardens, wall plantings as well as in patio planters.

Growing and Maintenance Tips

Grow Sempervivums in rock gardens, dry gardens, cracks and crevices, as edging or ground cover, or in containers. Indoors, try them in planters or troughs. They like full sun (6+ hours a day) to part sun (4-6 hours a day). Excellent drainage is essential, especially for plants in containers (drainage holes are a must, as is potting soil formulated for succulents). Let the soil go dry between thorough waterings. Neither deer or rabbits will eat them. If a plant starts to bloom the rosette will die. That is a normal part of their growth cycle. Remove the rosette after flowering and fill the space in with some fresh soil and plant a few of the smaller "babies" from the outside of the plant to fill  in the space.
