Chocolate Boneset, White Snakeroot

Eupatorium 'Chocolate' has chocolate leaves with deep shiny purple stems. The dark leaves makes a wonderful contrast to the explosion of white flowers in September and October. This is a selection of a North American native found growing in wooded areas from Nova Scotia to Saskatchewan. It is an excellent butterfly plant and makes a choice background plant for a woodland garden. This plant is toxic when eaten by people or animals.

Growing and Maintenance Tips

Eupatorium 'Chocolate' is easy to grow in average well drained soil in light shade.  Many websites say it will grow in full sun but we have found the leaves scorch even with lots of moisture.  It likes a rich soil with lots of organic matter worked into the soil.
