About This Grass
All varieties of Arundo Donax are impressive with their broad leaf blades and very heavy stems but the solid green version makes a clump that, in a good growing year, tops out at over 3 meters. Visitors to the garden often mistake it for corn, but then wonder how corn could be so tall. Although only considered hardy to zone six it has been reliable in our garden for many years. In a bad winter we might loss part of the clump but we have never lost it all. It does not bloom in our zone.

Growing and Maintenance Tips
Arundo Donax is adaptable to many soil types but will not tolerate sites that are wet in the winter. In our area the canes can be left standing in the winter and extra mulch piled around them. If you cut it down protect the plant with a styrofoam rose cone.
