NEVER LOSE YOUR GLOVES AGAIN

Last summer I attended a conference where hundreds of suppliers showed off their garden products. I tried on gardening gloves at every booth in a quest to find the best on the market at a reasonable price. Finally I found a supplier that had what I was looking for. I wanted gloves that were flexible enough to do fine weeding and tough enough to protect my hands when I am moving rocks or ripping out weeds. They have cotton backs and strong rubberized finger tips and palms. I am still using the pair I started the season with so I know they wear well. When I put them down I can find them again because they come in lime green, hot pink and bright blue. There are two sizes for adults and children’s gloves. Sorry men - they don’t make them in larger sizes.

$8.88 a pair + taxes.

PERENNIAL GARDENING GUIDE 4th  Edition

By John Valleau

We have hundreds of books in our library but we always turn to this reference first. It is a Canadian publication with zoning references for our climate.  Updated and enlarged for 2003 it is fully illustrated with hundreds of detailed photographs in colour.  The book contains sections on perennials, ground covers, ornamental grasses, herbs and ferns.  Many of the newest cultivars on the market are listed making it one of the most up to date reference books available. We recommend that everyone, from beginner to expert, should add this book to their collection.                                    $17.95

HORTICULTURAL MARKING PENS

We tried many different commercial nursery pens over the years. We found these markers to be the most durable and long lasting. Markings stay on plastic labels for several years in the garden. If the plant tag is pushed down into the soil at the side of the plant the ink does not fade at all. One marker should last the average gardener at least one full season.

                                                          PRICE PER MARKER     $ 4.50

GRO-MARK MARKING PEN

This is a new product we tried this year and found to be an excellent alternative to the Nursery Marking Pen.

It is waterproof and fade proof and has a slightly finer tip

PERMANENT METAL GARDEN MARKERS

For 2004 we have introduced a new line of metal labels, which are excellent for permanent marking in the garden. They are durable, easy to read and come in a range of sizes and styles. They are virtually indestructible, unless run over with the tractor. You can write on these labels with a nursery-marking pen or pencil or use any of the label makers to make your own permanent labels.
